RoR and CJP Youth Combo

‘Reflections on Resilience’ (RoR) is a student-driven creative learning and research project that explores the cultural and historical roots of American music, with an emphasis on the foundational contributions of historically marginalized persons and populations.

This year’s Reflections on Resilience project, which is a continuation of a program first introduced by Carnegie Hall’s PlayUSA two years ago, is focused on the history, music, and culture of New Orleans. Students are currently looking into the history and music of the indigenous cultures of the region to understand the often underestimated role that the art of those peoples played in shaping blues and jazz.
