JazzALIVE: for Schools
CJP’s education programs focus entirely on long-term growth and performance rather than short-term exposure. Its primary in-school initiative, JazzALIVE, is a comprehensive K-12 program designed to institute music education in Chicago public schools at the beginning of a student’s formal education and track students for continued band participation.
Jazz Academy: for Students
Jazz Academy is an out-of-school community music program that invites young musicians from all across the Chicago metropolitan area and beyond to participate in a two-week intensive summer camp and/or a Saturday program during the school year. Jazz Academy is an inclusive program where students are welcomed at any level and teachers work to meet their individual needs.
With its unique Third Stream approach in combining jazz and classical genres, Jazz Academy students receive well-rounded music education that teaches theory, technique, and aesthetic creativity in both genres, with a focus on improvisation and self-expression.
Third Stream Residencies
This residency works to educate professional orchestras, universities, and middle to high school ensembles on the personal, cultural, societal, and musical benefits of combining classical and jazz. CJP travels 3-5 of its core musicians and partners with your orchestra, jazz ensemble, or band to lead a series of workshops, master classes, and rehearsals to culminate in a performance presenting CJP’s signature Third Stream repertoire.
